Use PNG for simple digital sharing
PNG stores the design as pixels. It works in most messaging apps, presentations, documents and social platforms. QR Now provides 512, 1024 and 2048 pixel exports. Choose enough resolution for your layout and avoid enlarging a small image until its modules become blurry.
Keep the image square and use the original download. Screenshots and repeated image conversions can reduce clarity. Check the code after inserting it into a document because the document editor may compress images.
Use SVG for scalable QR modules
SVG represents QR modules with vector shapes. These shapes remain crisp when resized in a compatible design tool, making SVG useful for posters, packaging and print layouts. Some services do not accept SVG uploads; in that case use a high-resolution PNG.
In QR Now’s SVG export, an uploaded logo is embedded as a raster image. The QR shapes scale cleanly, while the logo’s sharpness still depends on the source file. Choose a high-quality logo and inspect a printed proof.
File format alone does not guarantee a scan
Both formats need a quiet zone, strong contrast and suitable physical size. Avoid placing the code on a busy background or cropping the white border. A long payload, decorative style or large logo can make scanning harder even when the source image is sharp.
Test the final PNG or SVG after it has been placed in the real layout. For print, test a physical sample under the lighting and distance your audience will use. Check the destination as well as whether the camera detects the code.
